Hum (Hindi:हम; English: We/Us) is a 1991 Bollywood film directed by Mukul S. Anand. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikant, Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Shilpa Shirodkar, Deepa Sahi and Danny Denzongpa. This was the last successful film for Bachchan in the early 90s before he announced his temporary retirement immediately after the release of this film for five years. He also won the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1992.

Tiger (Amitabh Bachchan) works for the local Don Bhaktawar (Danny Denzongpa) but never hesitates to revolt against him if he harms his friends or family. When his girlfriend Jumma (Kimi Katkar)'s brother Gonsalves (Romesh Sharma) is killed by Bhakhtawar for revolting against him, Tiger promises revenge. However Tiger's father Pratap (Deepak Shirde) intervenes and is killed accidentally. When corrupt police officer Girdhar (Anupam Kher) finds out that Tiger is on the hunt for Bhakhtawar, he kills Bhakhtawar's family and frames Tiger. Bhakhtawar is arrested soon after learning of his family's death for countless murders and promises to avenge his family's death by killing Tiger when he returns. Tiger is forced to go on the run with his two half-brothers with his girlfriend Jumma who decides to stay behind so that Tiger can fully concentrate on looking after his brothers. Many years later, he is now known as Shekhar and is living a happy life with his two grown-up brothers Kumar (Rajnikant) and Vijay (Govinda) as well as Kumar's wife Aarti (Deepa Sahi) and a daughter, Jyoti. Bhakhtawar returns from jail and is on the hunt for Tiger/Shekhar. He asks many people about where Shekar is. When he finds Tiger/Shekar he kidnaps Jyoti and Aarti. Bhaktwar thinks that Shekar killed his family! Meanwhile, Shekar, Vijay and Kumar look for Aarti and Jyoti at a train station and Kumar sees Shekar beat up a man that was making fun of Jyoti and Aarti. The climax of the movie follows the typical hindi movie.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan : A David Dhawan Film : Inspired by William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors!!

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (literally translating to "Big Brother, Small Brother" in English) is a 1998 Bollywood film starring Govinda in a double role, Amitabh Bachchan in a double role, Anupam Kher, Ramya Krishna, and Raveena Tandon. Directed by David Dhawan, it was released in 1998 and was the first of Amitabh's films that had success at the box office since his comeback after a few years of hiatus from the Bollywood industry. is a remake of the Hollywood film Bad Boys.And is also inspired by William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors.

Two friends, Arjun Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and Pyare Mohan (Govinda), are in the police force. Amitabh's sister Seema (Raveena Tandon) is in love with Pyare. Amitabh has no female companion and some pretty crude comments are often passed about his age.

Meanwhile, the villain Jorawar (Paresh Rawal) kills a cop who tries to pry into his private affairs—that's smuggling of arms and diamonds. Rawal also appears terrified of the police, but the mood seems to come and go. For when it comes to snuffing one out, he has no problem doing it. Along with the cop, he also gets rid of an eyewitness, played by Divya Dutta in a blink-and-you-miss-her role.

But there's another eyewitness, Neha (Ramya Krishnan), friend of the girl you hardly saw. She comes up to Arjun, confusing him for Pyare, but that's all cleared up in a few song sequences or so. Darned useful, these songs; nice way to get rid of uncomfortable problems.

Anyway, the trouble begins when the villains begin hunting for Neha, just when she's cavorting around with Arjun. Just when the heroes are all ready to go up a notch over the villains, in pop two petty thieves whom even their mothers would confuse for Arjun and Pyare. They call themselves Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan. The plot's in knots.

Arjun and Pyare are blamed for every crime the crooks commit and things aren't helped when Anupam Kher, the police commissioner, is also thrashed by the doubles.

Shahenshah : Rishte Me Hum Tumhare Baap Hote Hain Naam Hai Shahenshah!!

Shahenshah (Urdu & Persian: King of Kings) is a 1988 Bollywood superhero film directed by Tinnu Anand and starring Amitabh Bachchan in the title role. The film was produced and directed by Tinnu Anand. The story of the film was written by Amitabh Bachchan's wife Jaya Bachchan and the screenplay was written by veteran screenwriter Inder Raj Anand who died before the film was released. The film marked Bachchan's comeback after a three year hiatus during which he had entered politics. Due to the hype of Amitabh Bachchan's comeback Shahenshah went onto do well at the box office.

he movie opens with a corrupt and sniveling bank manager Mathur (Prem Chopra) and crime baron JK (Amrish Puri). Mathur is in a financial dilemma, and JK orchestrates a bank robbery to bail him out. Inspector Shrivastav (Kader Khan) gets wind of this plot and is about to crack the case when JK enlists an exotic dancer, Julie (Aruna Irani), to use the robbery as a backdrop and frame the honest inspector for corruption.

Inspector Shrivastav, unable to bear the false charges, hangs himself at home after being released on bail. This creates a lasting and powerful impression on his young son, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan). Vijay retains the noose his father used to hang himself.

Years later, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) grows up in the care of Inspector Aslam Khan (Pran), and becomes a cop himself. Aslam Khan is an honest cop much like Vijay's father. Vijay is an obsequious and cowardly inspector, prone to bribery and generally scared of powerful criminals. It doesn't take JK long to find Vijay, get him on payroll, and run his underworld crime empire (drugs, guns, racketeering) past the cops.

A new apparition bursts upon this scene. This is Shahenshah, a costumed crime fighter (see movie poster). This iron hand is used to attack enemies and smash objects, and Shahenshah's other weapon is a noose. Shahenshah describes himself as "one who doesn't hold a cop's job but does the same work; one who apprehends criminals himself, conducts the trials himself, and, pronounces and executes the sentences himself". It is revealed a bit later that Shahenshah is actually Vijay. Frustrated and helpless at the corruption in the police force, Vijay has employed this new tack to get to the criminals. Vijay/Shahenshah's outward mission is to take out crime, but his real goal is to get to the guys who framed his father.

Shahenshah quietly breaks up several of JK's gambling dens and illicit liquor distilleries. He also halts the demolition of a slum. This catches the eye of small-time trickster Shalu (Meenakshi Seshadri) who lives there with her aging and ailing mother Julie. JK had ordered her assassination after she helped frame Vijay's father; she has been on the run from him ever since; this becomes Shalu's motivation for seeking out and eliminating JK. Shalu decides to infiltrate JK's coterie by becoming an exotic dancer.

The fun begins when JK murders an honest news reporter Salim (Vijayendra Ghatge) who was about to expose JK's crime ring. Salim was engaged to Shaheena (Supriya Pathak), the daughter of Aslam Khan. Vijay now decides to turn around his image as a cowardly cop. He openly defies JK. Julie agrees to testify against JK. Shalu provides ancillary evidence. And JK prepares for an all out war against Shahenshah, Vijay, Shalu and the lot of his enemies.

There is a veritable bloodbath on the streets as Inspector Vijay tries to get Julie into the courthouse. And there is a final showdown where Shahenshah reveals his secret identity and becomes the nemesis for all the culprits.

Kaala Patthar : Black Stone : Teesre Baadshah hum hain

Kaala Patthar (English: Black Stone) is a 1979 Indian Bollywood action/drama film. It was produced and directed by Yash Chopra. The story was written by Salim-Javed. This film is the fourth collaboration between Amitabh Bachchan and director Yash Chopra after the hugely successful Deewaar (1975), Kabhie Kabhie (1976) and Trishul (1978). However, this film did average business at the box office, but did good business in the big cities.Despite its many Filmfare nominations, it failed to win any awards.

The words " Kaala Patthar" refers to coal. This movie was inspired by Chasnala mining disaster.

Vijay Pal Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is a disgraced Merchant Navy captain who is branded a coward, humiliated by society and disowned by his parents for abandoning ship risking the lives of over 300 passengers (perhaps inspired by Joseph Conrad's Lord Jim). Feeling guilty over his cowardice and with low self-esteem, he starts working as a coal miner to forget his past. He meets and becomes friends with Ravi (Shashi Kapoor), an engineer incharge of the mine. He also makes an enemy in another co-worker named Mangal (Shatrughan Sinha) who is an escaped criminal working in the mine to avoid the police. Vijay's past comes to haunt him as he sees Mangal causing trouble for the coal miners and angry over his cowardice over what happened when he was in the navy, Vijay tries to defend the miners against Mangal. Ravi eventually gets Vijay and Mangal to be friends after circumstances surrounding the mine force Mangal to change himself. The one person who supports Vijay him in his life is Dr Sudha Sen (Raakhee Gulzar) who tries to make Vijay face up to his past and move on. Ravi and Mangal also get involved in their own romances with Anita (Parveen Babi) and Channo (Neetu Singh) respectively.

When Seth Dhanraj (Prem Chopra) makes lives difficult for the coal miners by giving them poor equipment, less than sufficient medical supplies and lack of facilities, Vijay, Ravi and Mangal forcefully come together to fight for justice against Dhanraj when water floods the mines endangering the lives of hundreds of workers. The disaster actually took place at a place called Chasnala in erswhile Bihar(now Jharkand).

Kaalia : After His Release, Kaalia Is A Different, Stronger Man!!

Kaalia is a 1981 Bollywood film. Written and directed by Tinnu Anand, the film was produced by Iqbal Singh. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan (in the title role), Parveen Babi, Asha Parekh, Pran, Amjad Khan, K.N. Singh and Jagdeep. The music is by R.D. Burman. According to one source, the film did "above average" business at the box office.

Kallu (Amitabh Bachchan) lives with his older brother, sister-in-law (Asha Parekh), and their little daughter. He spends his time idly playing with the neighbor's kids. His older brother gets into accident at work at the mill and loses his arms. He loses his job and needs money for treatment. Kaalia begs his brother's boss (Amjad Khan), but he refuses. Kaalia breaks into the boss' safe to get the money but it's too late as the brother dies. The boss throws Kaalia in jail for 9 months. This is where he meets the men that teach him crime (kallu se kalia ka safar shuro hota hai). After his release, Kaalia is a different, stronger man. He and his accomplices steal the gold that the boss had been smuggling at the mill. Then he burns down the mill as retribution for his brother's death. He goes to jail again, this time for 2 years. His accomplices lie to his sister-in-law by telling her that he is in America earning a lot of money for her and her daughter. They move from poverty into riches. In jail, Kaalia meets the warden (Pran), a smart, ethical, strong man, whose daughter was kidnapped by one of the prisoners when she was little. After Kaalia is released from prison, he is bent on seeking vengeance and eventually pairs up with a woman (Parveen Babi). The boss kidnaps Kaalia's niece and forces her mother to testify against Kaalia in a murder trial. He is found guilty for a murder he didn't commit and escapes from prison to find his niece. At first, the warden chases him and once he knows the true story, decides to help him. They go to the boss's place and not only find the little girl but also the sister-in-law about to die. The boss reveals to the warden that he was the one who had kidnapped his daughter 20 years ago, and now it's the grownup Parveen Babi's character. They fight with him, and the boss loses. Everyone lives happily after.

Synopsis of Hera Pheri :
Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ajay (Vinod Khanna) are two small time crooks, who loot other rich 'respected' but criminal-minded people for a living. One night, while gambling, Vijay recognizes Sheru, a person who has assisted PK (Punchoo Kapoor) in murdering his father. Vijay's tragic past is something that Ajay is unaware of. After the retirement of his dad (Krishan Dhawan), the responsibility is on Bharat (Manoj Kumar) to look after his Delhi-based family. He has two younger college-going brothers, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Deepak (Dheeraj Kumar) and a sister of marriage age, Champa (Meena T.). Although Bharat himself is a college graduate, the only work he can find is as a low-paid singer, much to the frustration of his girlfriend, Sheetal (Zeenat Aman). Meanwhile, Vijay has turned to crime as a last option to provide for the family, but after an argument with Bharat, he leaves home to join the army.

Sheetal starts working as a secetary for rich businessman Mohan Babu (Shashi Kapoor) and Mohan becomes attracted to her. She too becomes attracted to Mohan Babu but is more interested in his wealth and luxury. She loves Bharat but cannot contemplate a life in poverty. Bharat finally finds a job as a builder but starts to realise that Sheetal is slowly drifting away from his life. Afterwards he loses his job as a builder after the government takes over the building site currently being constructed and his financial problems increase further. When Sheetal's boss, Mohan Babu, proposes marriage, she accepts and soon both are engaged leaving Bharat heartbroken. After losing his love, Bharat also loses his father, devastating him and leaving him unable to deal with his life. Frustrated, Bharat burns his diploma on his father's funeral pyre.

Meanwhile, his sister Champa has found a suitor, but Bharat has no money to pay for the wedding and it cannot go ahead. Still depressed at the state of his life, Bharat soon finds salvation by helping a poor girl, Tulsi (Moushmi Chatterjee), who also lives in poverty but gets by. He also makes friends with Sardar Harnam Singh (Prem Nath) who comes to his rescue when he attempts to save Tulsi from a gang of hoodlums. He then receives an offer from a corrupt businessman named Nekiram (Madan Puri) who persuades Bharat to do his illegal activities and he and his family will finally come out of poverty and be wealthy. The plot centers on whether Bharat agree to this, or whether his moral nature stop him from turning to crime to provide for his family.

Nastik : This film became a 'blockbuster' at box office!!

Nastik is a 1983 Hindi film produced by Vinod Doshi and directed by Pramod Chakravorty. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Pran, Deven Verma, Sarika, Amjad Khan, Aruna Irani, Madan Puri, Bhagwan Dada, Nalini Jaywant, Rita Bhaduri, Lalita Pawar, Bob Christo and Tom Alter. The music is by Kalyanji Anandji.This film became a 'blockbuster' at box office.

In the long and illustrious career of the Indian superstar, Amitabh Bachchan: alas this movie does nothing to contribute to it.

The movie sucks big time. I am truly struggling to find some positives in this film. Yes, Big B was in his heyday when this film was made, but…….. Yes, Hema Malini looks ethereal but there’s only so much that you can watch of her. And to top it all the film is not even so atrociously bad that you can really enjoy it. It’s just pathetic and at the end of it, you are left shaking your head.

Characters and situations pop out of nowhere. Marriages are fixed, introductions between long-lost relations happen and problems are resolved in the blink of an eye. No one seems to have bothered about continuity. View it for some of the most stupid editing this side of the Atlantic. The music is singularly uninspiring. Amateurish and incompetent scripting, uninspiring acting and contrived situations rule the roost. The audience seems to be an intruder in such a madcap fast-forward vendetta story.

Roughly from 1983 when this movie was made, till about the year 2000, most of the Big B movies have been sheer garbage, with some exceptions. Nastik seems to have started the downslide.

This was the age of the evil zamindars (rural landlords) as villains in the Hindi film. And so the film starts-off with an introductory song with the kids (soppy ones, at that) of a village priest (the eternally grieving actor, Bharat Bhushan) singing to the lord in the temple. The resident evil zamindar’s son makes plans to steal the valuable jewels of the temple idol and in the process manages to murder the priest, burn the family house down, render the priests wife blind, separates the family, the kid running away from the law to the city and turning into a Nastik (Athiest). All of that before the credits and within the first 30 minutes.

And so the runaway kid turns to thievery (and into Amitabh Bachchan too) in his youth. His partners-in-crime whom he bumps-into on the way are Pran and Hema Malini. Pran with a dismal past of his own (a raped daughter now mentally deranged). Incidently the villain for both turns out to be the zamindar (and rapist) who has now grown-up into Amjad Khan.

Amjad Khan (who was stabbed by the young AB leading to the loss of his eyesight in one eye) has by now evolved from relieving temple idols of their jewels. He is now into harebrained schemes of smuggling diamonds through false eyes and smuggling gold and drugs through idols and statues. Sarika (Kamal Hassan’s real-life ex-wife) stars in a cameo as AK’s sister with a minor crush on AB.

AB in the city who was under the impression that his mother and sister burnt-down with the house, suddenly bumps across (and keeps bumping-across) them in the city. The finale? Well: they all troop back to his village to take revenge on the zamindar and AB is turns into a reborn theist on the way.

And so

When you do maneuver your way through those old tired clichés, soppy mums, the gangsters lairs with the ubiquitous red light at the entrance and lots of multicoloured flashing lights inside, all you are left with is a buzzing head and a severe indigestion of Hindi films.

The chemistry between AB and HM is something to watch though, if you insist on some takeaways from the film.

Namak Haraam (Devanagari: नमक हराम, Nastaliq: نمک ہرام, is a 1973 Indian Hindi film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The music is by R.D. Burman and the screenplay by Gulzar and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The film stars Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. The film also stars Rekha, Asrani, Raza Murad, A.K. Hangal, Simi Garewal and Om Shivpuri .

The film focused on two friends ( Rajesh and Amitabh) and how Rajesh tries to infiltrate the trade union of his friends. Amitabh Bachchan plays a rich man's son who has a fight with a union leader and later sends his best friend, Rajesh Khanna to grow bigger than the previous union leader. Rajesh starts getting influenced by the ideals of workers which leads to the confrontation between two friends. This film concentrates on the rise of Unions with the backdrop of Mumbai's textile mills and inflation in the early '70s.

This was the second Hrishikesh film with Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh together after Anand. Diye Jalte Hai, Phool Khilte Hai, Nadiya se dariya, Dariye se sagar and 'Main Shayar Badnaam are the most memorable melodies, all rendered powerfully by Kishore Kumar.

God Tussi Great Ho (Hindi: गॉड तुस्सी ग्रेट हो) is a 2008 Indian comedy film, written and directed by Rumi Jaffery and starring Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sohail Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance. The film was released on August 15, 2008.

The film's story-line resembles that of Bruce Almighty, the 2003 Hollywood comedy film starring Jim Carrey. Arun Projapati (Salman Khan) has been trying to be a successful TV anchor, but success has always eluded him. He blames God (Amitabh Bachchan) for this lack of success. Arun is head over heels in love with Alia (Priyanka Chopra), who is a TV anchor and a well-known star working in the same channel, but he has never been able to express his love for her. When Rocky (Sohail Khan) is appointed as an anchor for the channel, Arun starts believing that Rocky will win Alia. Later, Arun is expelled from the channel. He has nobody to blame but God Himself, whom he later meets in person. An argument ensues between the two, at the end of which God then decides to give Arun the power over all things for ten days, wherein Arun may prove that he is a better operator of the universe. Arun then uses this power to put Rocky into an uneasy spot and win Alia's heart. After God scolds him for only making things better for himself, Arun starts listening to people's prayers. He later realizes that considering each person's wishes individually would be too time-consuming, so to save time and effort he grants everybody's wishes, including the wish of criminals to be free, and the Rocky's wish that Alia marries him. He later asks God why is everything happening towards him. God explains it is his own fault and that everyone cannot blame Him for this. Arun feels bad, but God forgives him and starts his life over again. During the game show, he tricks Rocky into lying about loving Alia, and Alia turns on him. Arun wins the heart of Alia.

God Tussi Great Ho did not have a good run at the box office, apart from a few single screens. However the movie has emerged as a moderate success on the home video circuit

But his life changes when Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandez) gives him a magic lamp - because it lets loose the genie Genius (Amitabh Bachchan). Desperate to grant him three wishes and to seek the end of his contract with the magic lamp, the rock-star Genius makes Aladin's life difficult until the real threat looms on the horizon - the ex-genie, Ringmaster (Sanjay Dutt).

With the help of Jasmine, Aladin and Genius work together to defeat Ringmaster. In the end Aladin earns powers from the lamp.

Zoom TV has given Aladin 2.5/5 saying that "Aladin fails to enchant". They have also criticized that Jacqueline has been put in the cast for the sake of an actress and she hasn't got much to do. However according to the scale 2.5/5 is an average. They have praised Amitabh Bachchan for his performance in the movie as 'genius'. Entertainment Daily has given the verdict saying that "Aladin is surely a let down." Nonetheless they have praised the special-effects used in the film. Noyon Jyoti Parasara from AOL India praised the SFX but also pointed out, "Despite a good enough story to carry the film ahead, Aladin falls due to blunders in screenplay. Attempts to rush up things and add entertainment make the story go haywire." He rated the film 2 out of 5.

Lal Baadshah : This was Bachchan's third film since his comeback after a five year hiatus!!

Lal Baadshah (Hindi: लाल बादशाह, Urdu: لال بادشاہ) is a 1999 Bollywood film directed by K.C. Bokadia and starring Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role, Raghuvaran, Manisha Koirala, Shilpa Shetty and Amrish Puri. Nirupa Roy also appears in her last film playing Bachchan's foster mother. At the castle, Dayal Singh is still hunting for the treasures of the Maharaja, whom he murdered years ago along with his brother Sultan Singh (Prem Chopra). When the Maharaja was murdered, his son, Dewan Ranbir Singh (also Amitabh Bachchan) hid the treasure, for which Dayal Singh tried to murder him. What is the link between Ranbir Singh and his look-alike Lal Singh and will Dayal Singh be able to ever find the treasure?

Nishabd : Inspired from Poison Ivy (film)!!

Nishabd (Devnagari: निशब्द, meaning wordless) is a 2007 Bollywood movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan inspired from Poison Ivy (film) (1992).

The film opens with young Ritu (Shraddha Arya) inviting her friend Jia (Jiah Khan) to spend the holidays with her at her home in Kerala. Ritu's parents Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Amrita (Revathi) make a beautiful home surrounded by picture-perfect surroundings. Vijay is a photographer and Amrita is a homemaker.

Jia has a dark past. Her mother lives alone in Australia and Jia studies in India. She is a free spirited girl with no attachments and no worries. She professes some affinity to Vijay but it doesn't go much further than that. But Vijay's world is turned upside down when he takes pictures of Jia watering herself down with the garden hose. Something innocent grows into something bigger, and something bigger grows into something beyond control.

Jia's world collides with Vijay's world causing three casualties. Ritu witnesses an intimate moment between Vijay and Jia and tries to get Jia out of the house without revealing the truth to her mother,but fails. Around this time, Amrita's brother Shridhar (Nassar) visits them. Through a sequence of events, he uncovers the disturbing truth about Jia and Vijay. Shridhar questions Vijay and realises that things are serious between Jia and Vijay. Vijay confesses his love for Jia to Amrita leaving her shattered.

Rishi(Aftab Shivdasani), the unrequited lover of Jia visits to surprise Jia on her birthday. Shridhar tells Vijay to objectively look at things and decide if he is right for Jia. Vijay realises that the relationship with Jia is not the best for her and tells her to leave. Jia is heartbroken and calls him a hypocrite and leaves with Rishi.

The family is still in pieces after Jia's departure. Ritu leaves for America and Amrita is unable to forgive her husband. We see Vijay reliving his moments with Jia all the time. He drives for hours and finally stands on top of cliff ready to jump. But then he remembers his moments with Jia and returns home.

Shridhar asks Vijay where he had gone and Vijay tells him he had gone to die. The film ends with his conversation with Shridhar saying that he is not scared of death. He says he has nothing left to live for, no wife, no daughter, no Jia. But he came back as he wants to live for a while with Jia's memory; that's all.

The film was shot in 20 days.[1] The movie was shot at Munnar in Kerala.[2] The claim that it was inspired by Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita was denied by Amitabh Bachchan in the CNN IBN TV show Unspoken relationships - Nishabd special (3 March 2007).

Recently Ram Gopal Verma has been served with a High Court notice for infringement of the movie title by award winning Bengali filmmaker Jahar Kanungo whose film titled Nisshabd won the Cinemaya Best Film and Best Actress award in 2004.[3]

Sooryavansham : Its people justly and fairly!I!

Sooryavansham is a 1999 Bollywood movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role, Soundarya, Rachana Bannerjee, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. Although the film was a box office flop critics hailed Amitabh Bachchan's performance as his best ever since his comeback in 1997.[1] It is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Suryavamsam, starring Sarath Kumar and Devayani.
For generations the Sooryavansh family has ruled the village communities and its people justly and fairly. Current generation is headed by Thakur Bhanupratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) who is feared and respected in the village. He has 3 sons; the youngest named Heera (Amitabh in a dual role) is treated like a servant because he is the most illiterate of the family, and he will not have anything to do with him.

Heera is an obedient son and always respectful of his father despite his father's indifference. His father is enraged when Heera proposes to marry his childhood sweetheart, Gauri (Rachana Bannerjee); and even more angered when Heera backs down promising never to marry again. Unknown to Thakur, Gauri refuses to marry an illiterate and makes Heera promise that he will not marry her.

At this time, Radha (Soundarya) enters his life; understanding his gentle and kind manner, she loves and proposes to marry him. She encourages Heera to live independently; and to help set up his own business. By now, Heera is completely disowned by his father Thakur for breaking his promise of lifelong bachelorhood.

Heera and Radha leave the village to live in their own home and Heera becomes a successful businessman, and Radha an important government officer. Soon, they are blessed with a son. Heera successfully fulfills what was once his father's dream, a charitable hospital for the poor.

Thakur comes to know of his grandchild, and meets him secretly without anyone knowing. One day, he is rushed to hospital, apparently poisoned by food sent to him by Heera, and Heera becomes the prime suspect of the attempted murder.

In the end, it is revealed that the person responsible was Thakur's arch nemesis, Khewara Thakur. Khewara Thakur and Bhanupratap have a face-off in front of the hospital with Heera helping to eliminate the enemy.

In the movie great actress Rekha has given her sound for the Gauri and the mother of Heera.This film was the remake of a Tamil film with Sarath Kumar in the place of Amitabh Bachchan.

He starts working for mobster K.D Narang (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), who used to be one of JK Verma's accomplices and had let Vijay escape from JK Verma's clutches as a child. Vijay sees this a favour to him for what he did so he decides to do all of Narang's illegal activities for him. Eventually the rivalry between JK and Narang forces Vijay to act as bodyguard for Narang and go on the run with him.

Namak Halaal is a 1982 Bollywood Hindi movie. The movie is directed by Prakash Mehra. Music is by Bappi Lahiri and lyrics by Anjaan. This an Action packed Comedy film that stars Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Om Prakash, Shashi Kapoor, Smita Patil, Parveen Babi, Ranjeet, Satyan Kappu, Suresh Oberoi and Ram Sethi.

It was remade in Tamil by Rajnikant as "Velaikkaran" and was a huge hit.

Young Arjun (Amitabh Bachchan) is brought up by his Daddu (paternal grandfather) (Om Prakash). His Daddu decides for him to go to the city in search of a new job and life. While in the city he meets up with Bhairon (Ram P. Sethi) who guides him into an interview in a 5-star hotel owned by Raja (Shashi Kapoor). In the interview the manager Ranjeet (Ranjeet) asks him if he can speak English. Arjun replies by saying:

"I can talk English, I can walk English, and I can laugh English because English is a very phunny language. Bhairoñ becomes Byron and Byron becomes Bhairoñ because their minds are very narrow. In the year nineteen hundred and twenty nine, Sir, when India was playing against Australia in Melbourne city, Vijay Merchant and Vijay Hazare, they were at the crease and Vijay Merchant told Vijay Hazare, “Look Vijay Hazare, this is a very prestigious match and you must consider this match very carefully. So considering the consideration that Vijay Hazare gave Vijay Merchant, Vijay Merchant told Vijay Hazare that ultimately we must take a run and when they were striking the ball on the leg side, Sir, the consideration came into an ultimatum and ultimately Vijay Hazare went to Vijay Merchant and said…

In the year nineteen hundred and seventy nine, when India was playing against Pakistan in Wankede stadium Bombay, Wasim Raja and Wasim Bari, they were at the crease and Wasim Bari gave the same considertion to Wasim Raja and Wasim Raja told Wasim Bari “look sir, this ultimately has to end in a consideration which I cannot consider therefore the consideration that you are giving me must be considered very ultimately.” Therefore the run that they were taking, Wasim Raja told Wasim Bari “Wasim Bari you take the run…” and ultimately both of them ran inconsiderately, they got out."

While in the hotel, Arjun meets Poonam (Smita Patil) and falls in love with her. During this time, many attempts are made to kill Raja by Girdar Singh (Satyendra Kapoor) and his son Ranjeet. The blame for this murders goes to Raja's mother (Waheeda Rehman), who is actually Arjun's mother. Realising all this Arjun takes an oath no matter what happens he will let any harm come to Raja. As these attempts are being made, can Arjun thwart them all?

Toofan : A superhero who uses his crossbrow as a weapon!!

Toofan (English: Storm) is a 1989 science fiction fantasy Bollywood movie directed by Ketan Desai and starring Amitabh Bachchan in a double role as twin brothers. One is the title character Toofan, a superhero who uses his crossbrow as a weapon and the other is a magician named Shyam. Ketan Desai's father Manmohan Desai produced the film.

The film opens with a daredevil escape magician Ramesh Kumar (Ramesh Deo) receiving word that his close friend Inspector Hanuman Prasad (Pran) has just lost his wife during childbirth. As Ramesh's wife is unable to bear children, the inspector entrusts one of his twin children to Ramesh, to rear as his own, so they may both enjoy the children. They decide to keep this a secret between them (and the doctor). Ramesh returns to Bombay and the boy, Shyam, learns the tricks of the trade to become Shyam jadugar (Shyam the magician, played by Amitabh Bachchan). Ramesh meets an untimely death during a failed Chinese Water Torture Cell escape trick, and his wife steadfastly dissuades Shyam from pursuing magic. However, Shyam resolves to perform the escape successfully as a tribute to his late father.

The film moves to the village of Udhampur, where a corrupt ACP Sharma (Kamal Kapoor) conspires with a notorious daku (bandit) Shaitan Singh (Goga Kapoor) to waylay a train transporting a large cache of Government gold bullion. Inspector Hanuman Prasad is falsely implicated in the robbery. He learns of the conspiracy, writes out his theory (naming Shaitan Singh and Sharma) on a small slate, and sets off to stop the ferocious daku. After a vicious fight aboard the train, Shaitan Singh throws him to his death. (Shaitan Singh lops off his own arm, handcuffed to the inspector, to detach the inspector and crush him under the wheels of the train.) Shaitan Singh escapes, stashes the gold cache somewhere, and double crosses the ACP. But the plot backfires, and Shaitan Singh lands in jail for an extended term.

Inspector Hanuman Prasad's ten year old son seeks refuge in a Hanuman temple, and prays fervently to be able to find the conspirators behind the death of his father. (Rain had accidentally erased the two names from the small slate; thus while the boy is convinced his father was innocent, he still does not know the real culprits.) In answer to his devoted prayer, he is granted supernatural powers (increased strength and the ability to summon storms at will) and a weapon (long range crossbow). The boy grows up, armed and empowered, to become Toofan (the storm, also played by Amitabh Bachchan). Costumed in saffron-red and black (colors typically attributed to his deity, Lord Hanuman), Toofan becomes a local savior for Udhampur. He fights off marauding dakus and local thugs, officiates at local functions, and serves as the marshal at large for the town. However, Toofan's principal aims are to assert his father's innocence and avenge his father's death.

Meanwhile, in Bombay, a rich and cunning seth (Raza Murad) falsely cites dire circumstances and tricks Shyam into cracking a safe. Shyam is arrested. When he is released on bail, he returns to frame the seth and gets the seth caught red handed at another con job. But this con job involves some dangerous international criminals; Shyam's cover is blown and he is forced to flee; the gangsters chase Shyam to kill him. In the resulting fracas, Shyam's close friend Gopal (Farooque Sheikh), in a bid to save Shyam, is hit by a truck and loses his arms. A dejected Gopal returns to his hometown, Udhampur.

The film takes another turn when Shaitan Singh escapes from prison. After repeated encounters with various local dakus, Toofan learns that Shaitan Singh was connected with his father's death. Toofan seeks out Shaitan Singh. After a vicious fight near a waterfall, Shaitan Singh pulls a cheap trick and Toofan falls into the river several hundred feet below. Some cops find him at a riverbank, identify him as Shyam Jadugar and bring him to Bombay. Thereafter, knowing Toofan is out, Shaitan Singh and his fellow dakus resume their raids on Udhampur. In one such raid, they loot Gopal's house and kill him. Around this time, in Bombay, the doctor reveals the secret of the twins. Shyam arrives in Udhampur to visit Gopal. Finding Gopal dead, and resolving to find his killers, Shyam decides to invoke his doppelganger Toofan and challenge Shaitan Singh once again.

Toofan awakens at a hospital in Bombay, and is immediately returned to Shyam's mother, who believes he is Shyam. Shyam is still wanted by the cops for his involvements with the seth. Toofan, posing as Shyam, plays a trick to expose the seth and exonerate Shyam. Having performed this duty, he decides to return to Udhampur and settle affairs with his old nemesis.

ACP Sharma retires from the force, and decides to go after Shaitan Singh (really the gold). Shaitan Singh kidnaps Gopal's son to lure Toofan; when Shyam shows up, posing as Toofan, Shaitan Singh overpowers him easily, shackles him up, locks him up in a railway car, and orders the train towards the cache. ACP Sharma tries to waylay the tracks (with dynamite), but is intercepted by Toofan and forced to fill out the two missing names on the slate. Shaitan Singh's train passes by; Shaitan Singh shoots Sharma; and Toofan gets on board. Shaitan Singh gets off the train (with his gold) and shoots the driver; the train continues over an unfinished bridge, and lands in the river thereby placing Shyam into a Chinese Water Torture Cell again. Shaitan Singh takes his gold into a waiting airplane. Toofan follows the airplane and engages Shaitan Singh in combat. This time, Toofan replays Shaitan Singh's old trick back upon him and the daku falls to his death. Meanwhile, Shyam is able to perform the escape successfully, thus achieving his redemption.

The film ends with the brothers being reunited.

Bhoothnath : Lord of Ghosts

Bhoothnath (Devanagari: भूतनाथ translation: "Lord of Ghosts") is a Bollywood ghost movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Shahrukh Khan, Aman Siddiqui, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Rajpal Yadav. It is directed by Vivek Sharma and produced by Ravi Chopra. The film is an adaptation of the Oscar Wilde short-story The Canterville Ghost.

The story is about the relationship between a deceased old man (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and a boy named Banku. The ghost is named Bhoothnath by Banku. Juhi Chawla plays the boy's mother and Shahrukh Khan is her husband. They come to live at Bhoothnath's old home, Nath Villa in Goa. Banku calls the ghost Angel instead of Bhooth, and the two become friends. Priyanshu Chatterjee plays Amitabh’s son in this movie. The film began shooting on 18 October 2007 and released worldwide on 9 May 2008.

Aditya (Shahrukh Khan) is an Engineer on a cruise line, and lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his wife, Anjali (Juhi Chawla), and a school-going son, Aman (Aman Siddiqui). They decide to re-locate to Goa and rent a bungalow, 'Nath Villa', that was built in 1964. They are made aware that the bungalow is haunted, but they disregard this. While Aditya returns to work, Aman is enrolled in St. Francis High School, and Anjali hires a drunken thief, Anthony (Rajpal Yadav), as a helper to clean the house. Shortly thereafter Aman starts getting in trouble in school, and is reprimanded by Principal J.J. Irani (Satish Shah). To make matters worse, he also starts making up stories of a new friend 'Bhoothnath'. Anjali disregards this, but during a stage performance, a local resident tells her that Aman is mimicking the former owner of Nath Villa. Anjali will soon find out that indeed the bungalow is haunted by its former owner - Kailash Nath (Amitabh Bachchan) - who has taken a morbid liking to Aman, and will not permit them to vacate the house under any circumstance. However, after Aditya performs Kailash Nath's post-death ceremony, Kailash attains salvation and returns to heaven, promising to return whenever Aman needs him.

The film received favourable reviews. Appreciating the way the film was directed at shot. The reviews were positive. The movie was also applaused for not being that scary for the kids.

Baghban : Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini were paired opposite each other after 20 years since their last worked together in Nastik in 1983!!!

The movie tells the story of Raj Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), his wife Pooja (Hema Malini) and their four sons Ajay (Aman Verma), Sanjay (Samir Soni), Rohit (Saahil Chadda), and Karan (Nasir Khan). Raj and Pooja have provided their children with everything they wanted, often at the cost of Raj and Pooja's own requirements. The Malhotras also have an adopted son Alok (Salman Khan), who is in love with Arpita (Mahima Chaudhary) (both in special appearances). Alok was an orphan and Raj had provided him with money and education. Now a successful man, Alok worships Raj because of all his help and thinks him as his own father which he never had. Raj and Pooja also treats him as their own son.

Raj has a flourishing job as an ICICI employee, but once he retires, he and Pooja decide to live with their kids to get their love and affection. However their kids do not want them as they think looking after their parents will be a hassle. This is where the story takes a sharp turn; the children decide to split the parents up and for 6 months they will live with two of the four sons and for the next 6 months they will live with their third and fourth sons. The story shows how the aged parents endure this separation as well as horrible treatment from their children after all they have done for them in the past, during their lifetime. Saddened by the treatment he has received from his children and their families, Malhotra writes his feelings regarding how he fulfilled all his children dreams and in return how they treat him.

While changing their trains after 6 months Raj and Pooja go for some time together in Mumbai, when they suddenly find Alok, who takes them to his home and gives them the importance and care which their real sons did not give him. Then, Raj finds out that his work has taken a book's shape and is named Baghban for which he gains popularity and gets a handsome paycheck. This books sells the first copies immediately and the second edition books are heavily in demand. It is now that the children come back to their parents, asking for their forgiveness, however, they hold an ulterior motive, to get a hold of their parents' money. But Raj shuns them and lives with Pooja, Alok, and Arpita, as well as their two grandchildren Payal and Rahul, while disowning the rest of his sons.

Aaj Ka Arjun : The film became a box office hit

Thakur Bhupendra Singh (Amrish Puri) and his son Lakhan (Prasenjeet) are landlords, presiding oppressively over a small Indian community. Lakhan gets Laxmi (Raadhika) pregnant and casts her aside. Her brother Bheema (Amitabh Bachchan) goes to plead with them to accept Laxmi as their daughter-in-law and they reject his pleas and have him thrown out. Bheema tries to avenge this humiliation, only to have his sister killed. Bheema is imprisoned, and after his sentence is over is returns back to his community, only to be told that he can no longer reside there, as the entire community is terrified of the Thakur and his men. Bheema then decides to move out of town. Some villagers and a police officer (Anupam Kher) persuade Bheema to return, and he agrees. On his return, Bheema's nephew Kanhaiya (Baby Guddu) is abducted by Thakur and his men, and he will only be returned after Bheema obtains signatures/thumb prints from everyone in the community, thereby turning over their properties to Thakur's name. Will Bheema compromise the safety of his nephew, and will he able to persuade the community to bow down to Thakur's demands?

Mard : It is the early 20th century, when India remains part of the British empire!!

The film opens in India. It is the early 20th century, when India remains part of the British empire. The opening sequence shows a group of British soldiers plundering an Indian fort and taking its riches by air to England. They are stopped by the valiant Raja Azad Singh (Dara Singh). Raja Azad Singh is of immense strength, and manages to lasso the light aircraft, subdue several English soldiers and recover the stolen jewels. Around this time, Raja Azad Singh's wife Rani Durga (Nirupa Roy) gives birth to a baby boy. The Raja carves the word mard (man, intending to convey strength and bravery) into the newborn's chest, noting proudly that the baby is smiling throughout, and can apparently feel no pain. (His words, mard ko dard nahin hota, meaning a true man feels no pain, is a tag line throughout the movie.) The British commission conducts an investigation, led by a sympathetic and liberal Englishwoman, Lady Helena; the investigation uncovers the atrocities of the English troops and results in several officers being officially reprimanded. Lady Helena is a close confidant of Raja Azad Singh, and is generally supportive of the Raja and of India becoming independent.

The English officers General Dyer (Kamal Kapoor) and Inspector Simon (Bob Christo) conspire with a sniveling, weak willed local doctor Harry (Prem Chopra) to capture the Raja. Harry sedates the Raja; weakened thus, the Raja is captured and imprisoned in a dungeon. Rani Durga escapes on the Raja's faithful steed Bahadur. But she is shot, and the horse brings the baby mard to a local orphanage for safekeeping until Rani Durga can recuperate and reclaim him. The wife of a poor blacksmith spots the baby in the orphanage, asks after him and eventually adopts him. When Rani Durga returns, she is shocked to find him gone and she loses the ability to speak. The penniless Rani Durga eventually becomes a washer woman. The traitor Harry is appointed mayor of the town for his part in the capture of the Raja.

Raju grows up to become a strong youth under the care of the loving blacksmith and his wife. His day job is to run a tanga. One day, he happens across an arrogant and oppressive young woman who blithely runs her car over an old lady. Raju gives chase, intercepts the young woman, and compels her to apologize to the old lady. The young woman is of high birth, and her bodyguard Zybisko (Manek Irani) engages Raju, but Raju fends him off quite easily. The young woman turns out to be Ruby, the debutante daughter of mayor Harry and the old woman is Rani Durga. Ruby apologizes. But she is charmed by Raju's rugged looks and candor. He initially refuses her advances in order to maintain his independence. But she eventually falls in love, changes his heart, and invites him to her birthday party.

Harry and General Dyer continue their relentless quest for power. Their first move is to demolish the basti (slum colony) in front of Harry's mansion. Raju rallies the basti dwellers to oppose the demolition crew and picket Harry's mansion. Harry arrests Raju and is about to execute him when Lady Helena and Anurag arrive at the scene promptly. Lady Helena and Anurag stop the demolition, reprimand Harry, and release Raju. Harry tries to buy off Raju, but upon Anurag's advice and support Raju douses the cases with liquor, sets it afire, and uses the soot to blacken Harry's face. (No, it is certainly black money, for it burns black, he observes!) A frustrated Harry tries to have him shot, but Ruby intervenes upon Anurag's insistence, professes her love for the tanga wallah (tanga driver), and threatens to completely disavow her father if any harm should befall him. Unable to subdue or subvert Raju, a frustrated set of cronies (Harry, Dyer, Simon and others) fret and fume, wanting to kill Anurag who, with Raju's help escapes and soon flees to England, living with a family who provide him with shelter and love in the heart of Harrow.

The film introduces Danny (Dan Dhanoa) the son of General Dyer. Danny is every bit as corrupt, cunning and avaricious as his father and his cronies. Danny runs the nefarious operations beneath the outwardly clean, lordly and manorial life of General Dyer and mayor Harry. There are three such operations. First, there is a secret blood camp; basti dwellers that are infirm, aged or otherwise unfit are secretly abducted and their blood (all of it) is involuntarily extracted to supply British war campaigns elsewhere. Second, there is a slave labor camp where, again, basti dwellers are put to work (with no pay) on various civil and construction projects for the British empire. And finally there is Raja Azad Singh, still imprisoned, and a champion for the basti and for the workers in the labor camps. His primary duty is to turn, by hand, a massive flour mill; this mill is the only source of food for the camps. (Rani Durga, it turns out, is a washerwoman in one of these camps.) The camps grow in size, and Raja Azad Singh secretly plans to have them revolt; this becomes a growing concern for Harry.

Harry and General Dyer decide the best way to remove Raju from the picture is to announce the engagement of Ruby and Danny. Ruby strongly opposes this and runs off with Raju. Danny gives chase with his men, and even tries to kill Ruby, but eventually brings her back to Harry. Harry is truly enraged. He threatens to kill Ruby if she ever disobeys him again. Danny devises a nefarious plot to get rid of Raju.

As the first step in the plot, Danny captures the blacksmith, burns his hovel, murders his wife, and puts the blacksmith in a slave camp. (As she lays dying, she reveals to Raju the story of Raju's birth. Raju cremates his foster mother and writes out a letter for his real mother, which he immerses into the river along with the ashes of his foster mother. The river carries his note to the camp where the blacksmith finds it and reads it out to Rani Durga, who immediately recalls her story. The blacksmith stages a stick-up to facilitate her escape, and she is ultimately reunited with Raju. The blacksmith, however, is killed.)

Danny learns of Raju's lineage. Realizing Raju will attack the camp to free the blacksmith and Raja Azad Singh, Danny plays the second step of his plot and lays a trap. Raju enters the dungeon to rescue his father. But it turns out that Raja Azad Singh has been replaced by a masked impostor (Simon), and Raju is captured. At this point, Danny devises a fatal final step. He announces a gladiatorial sword fight between Raju and Raja Azad Singh where the winner will go free. Prior to this fight, he takes steps to ensure father and son are truly bloodthirsty for the other. Raja Azad Singh is brought to a blood camp where he sees Raju (actually a masked impostor) extracting blood from innocent citizens and swearing loyalty to the British; the Raja is incensed and swears to finish him off in the contest. Concurrently, Danny sends word (through Ruby) that the fighter opposing Raju will be a masked impostor and not the real Raja. Raju, in turn, announces he will not let his opponent leave the ring alive. And Danny forthwith arranges to have the real Raja fight Raju.

The contest begins on the next day, and father and son are soon in a crazed sword fight. The duel takes a turn when the Raja spots the word mard on Raju's chest, and Raju notices one of his blows drew blood from the Raja's cheek. They quickly discover the truth, and keep up the appearance of a death duel until the Raja hoists Raju off the arena and into the viewing gallery. Raju plunges his sword into General Dyer, killing him instantly.

Danny is infuriated. He orders his tanks to finish off Raju and the Raja. (Lady Helena and Rani Durga are strapped to the tanks, with British soldiers holding them at gunpoint.) Raju and the Raja seize horses and escape, with the tanks in hot pursuit. After a long chase and fight, Raju and the Raja overpower the tanks, rescue the ladies and engage the villains in combat. After a hard sword-and-gun fight, Harry, Danny and Goga are drowned in quicksand, and Raju and his father return victorious.

The film ends with Raju and Ruby coming together and being reunited with Raju's real parents, on the dawn of India's independence movement.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham : was the highest grossing Indian film overseas till 2006!!

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (Hindi: कभी ख़ुशी कभी ग़म is a Bollywood film released in India and countries with large NRI populations on 14 December 2001.

It features Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji in a guest appearance. It is director Karan Johar's second movie (after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai).

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... was the highest grossing Indian film overseas till 2006, when its record was broken by Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It climbed up to 3rd place in the British box office within two weeks of release, and maintained its place for over 3 weeks. The film was also thought to have broken the American Box Office Top 10, but this remains uncertain due to a lack of confirmed figures from the distributors. The film was the first Bollywood feature to see a theatrical release in Germany (with German subtitles, a dubbed version was produced, too). It was the highest grossing Indian film in overseas market ever until Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006 film) was released in August 2006.

Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) is the adopted son of Yashvardhan "Yash" Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Nandini (Jaya Bachchan). Unexpectedly, Nandini was able to give birth to Rohan (Hrithik Roshan), who is younger than Rahul by nine years. Yash is a rich and famous business man in India. He believes in keeping traditions, and is against love marriages. When Rahul returns home from his overseas university, however, he meets and falls in love with a poor girl from the Chandni Chowk region of Delhi named Anjali (Kajol). Meanwhile, Rohan befriends Pooja a.k.a Poo, Anjali's younger sister.

Yash decides to arrange Rahul's marriage to his friend's daughter, Naina (Rani Mukerji). Rahul, however, tells his father that he wants to marry Anjali; this angers Yash, who berates Rahul for not considering Anjali's social status. Rahul apologizes to Yash and promises to do whatever is asked of him. He goes to tell Anjali that he cannot marry her, only to find that her father has died suddenly. After seeing that Anjali and Pooja have no other family and no one to live with, he marries Anjali on the spot. When he brings her home, his enraged father disowns him, and says that, because he is adopted and not of Raichand blood originally, he did such an act. Rahul, shocked and hurt, shares an emotional goodbye with his mother; Nandini asks Rahul's nanny, Sayeeda (Farida Jalal), to accompany Rahul wherever he goes so that he will always have a mother's love and care. After visiting Rohan at boarding school for the last time and making him promise to never ask about why he is leaving, he leaves with Anjali, Pooja, and Sayeeda.

Rohan is devastated by the split in the family, but has never learned why Rahul left. Ten years later, on his way home for the holidays, he stops to meet his maternal and paternal grandmothers and overhears them discussing the split; upon confrontation, they tell him the whole truth. When he goes to his parents' home, he learns from a few acquaintances of Anjali's that Rahul and Anjali have settled down in London. Vowing to bring Rahul and Anjali home, Rohan tells his parents that he wants to go to London to study; Yash reluctantly agrees. As soon as he arrives in London, he tracks Rahul down and learns his address. He enrolls at the university and finds that Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) happens to be a student there. He tells her who he is and asks her to help him bring the family back together.

Meanwhile, Rahul has started his own business and is living comfortably with Anjali and their nine-year-old son, Krish, along with Pooja and Sayeeda. Pooja tells everyone that Rohan is her best friend's brother who has come from India and needs a place to stay. Rahul and Anjali welcome him (grudgingly on Rahul's part), and Rohan soon becomes a part of the family without revealing who he is. He reminds the family how much they miss India and their parents, drawing pangs of guilt in Rahul. Slowly, the truth comes out and he tries to convince Rahul to go back to India. He even goes so far as to convince Yash and Nandini to come to London with the hope that Yash will reunite with Rahul. His plan fails, but Rahul and Nandini share a joyful reunion. At this point Anjali, too, attempts to persuade Rahul to go back to India and reconcile with his father. Rahul, convinced that his father does not love him and wants nothing to do with him, remains adamant until they learn that Yash's mother has died, and that her last wish was for Rahul, Yash, and Rohan to light her funeral pyre together. Rahul goes back to India, but participates in the funeral without speaking to his father.

Nandini confronts Yash and tells him, for the first time in ten years, that he was wrong in cutting ties with Rahul, who he had brought into their home with such love and happiness. This leaves Yash stunned, and at odds with himself. Rohan finally manages to convince Rahul to visit home for Nandini's sake. He goes with Anjali and Pooja, and finds Yash humbled and sad. Yash apologizes to Rahul and berates him for believing that his father did not love him and for not returning home sooner.

Things end happily, with Rohan and Pooja's wedding and a belated celebration of Rahul and Anjali's wedding.

Production

The film brings back the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star cast comprising of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji.

The second half of the film is set principally in London, and many scenes were filmed there. The film was also shot in places like Egypt, Bicester Village Shopping Centre (on DVD's deleted scenes), Blenheim Palace (King's College in the film), Bluewater Shopping Centre (the mall), Bond St., Kingsway Rd., Covent Garden, British Museum, Butler's Wharf, Heathrow Airport, Leicester Square, Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Piccadilly Circus, Stowe School, The Strand and Waddesdon Manor.

The "e" added to the second Kabhi in the title was mainly because the director, Karan Johar believes in numerology. Shahrukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan plays the young Rahul in the beginning of the movie.

Abhishek Bachchan initially had a cameo in this movie but it was later cut out. Karan Johar mentioned in the Deleted Scenes DVD that the legendary actress Waheeda Rahman was to play Amitabh Bachchan's mother in the film. A few scenes were shot but her husband died and Waheeda Rahman was forced to opt out. In 2005 the movie was released on DVD in Poland as Czasem slonce, czasem deszcz (Sometimes sun, sometimes rain).

The music of the film was done by Jatin Lalit, Sandesh Shandilya and Aadesh Shrivastava as a special guest music director. Lyrics were provided by Sameer and Anil Pandey. There are total 11 tracks in the album. Singers such as Lata Mangeshkar, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Subramaniam, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Amit Kumar, Sudesh Bhonsle, Sunidhi Chauhan and Usha Uthup were selected for singing.

Mohabbatein : It became the second highest grossing film of the year!!

Mohabbatein is a 2000 Indian Bollywood film directed by Aditya Chopra. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan in pivotal roles, along with six young debutantes. Aishwarya Rai appeared in flashbacks as Khan's lover. The movie was filmed at Oxford and Longleat. This is Aditya Chopra's second directorial venture after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). The film went on to do well both critically and commercially. It became the second highest grossing film of the year and won two Filmfare Awards, given to both Bachchan and Khan for their respective roles.

Three young men arrive at a train station one night and strike an instant friendship. They are all going to join a prestigious Indian private school, Gurukul.

Gurukul is run by a stern headmaster named Narayan Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan). He is a strict disciplinarian who believes his institute runs because of his principles and rules. Apparently the students are picked from universities all over the country to study at Gurukul and the headmaster has high expectations of them. Moreover, Narayan Shankar has instituted a strict anti-romance policy – any student who becomes romantically involved will be expelled.

The three friends all have their hearts set on different girls. Sameer (Jugal Hansraj) works in a cafe and is in love with his childhood friend Sanjana (Kim Sharma). Unfortunately for Sameer, she already has a boyfriend. Vikram (Uday Chopra) catches Ishika (Shamita Shetty) stealing apples from the Gurukul gardens, and falls in love at first sight. Karan (Jimmy Shergill) becomes attracted to Kiran (Preeti Jhangiani) when he sees her waiting for a train. Kiran is married to an Army officer who never returned from war, and she behaves as if her husband were still alive because of her father-in-law, General Khanna (Amrish Puri), who holds out hope that his son is alive. However, Sameer, Vikram, and Karan all elect not to take their respective romances to the next level, for fear of Narayan Shankar and his stern ways.

The pupils soon meet Raj Aryan Malhotra (Shahrukh Khan). With flowers and a violin in his hand, Raj wants to join Gurukul as a music teacher. After some reluctance, Narayan Shankar allows Raj to join the institute. Raj spreads the message of love amongst the three young men and encourages them to follow their hearts. He tells them that he loved a woman named Megha (Aishwariya Rai), who is now no longer alive. Nevertheless, Raj continues to love her. The audience gets a glimpse of Megha, who now lives only in Raj's imagination and speaks to him when he is alone.

As the boys fall in love, the relationship between the headmaster and the music teacher begins to become strained. Much to the chagrin of the headmaster, Raj begins to implement many changes. He begins hosting parties (inviting girls from the nearby girls' hostel), celebrating festivals, and encouraging students to break Gurukul's strict rules.

In the second part of the film, it is revealed that Raj was once also a student of Gurukul, and the girl he fell in love with, Megha, was none other than Narayan Shankar's daughter. When Narayan discovered their romance, he forbade them from seeing each other, expelled Raj from the institution without ever meeting him in person, and distanced himself from his daughter. Megha became distraught, as she could not forget Raj, and ultimately committed suicide by throwing herself out of her bedroom window. Raj expected this tragic incident to finally transform Narayan, but he instead became more stern and strict. So, Raj made it his mission to spread love throughout Gurukul, and to one day reach out to Narayan Shankar and show him the magic of love and affection.

When Narayan Shankar comes to know that Raj is the same boy, R.A. Malhotra, who was in love with his daughter, he takes all the necessary steps to remove him from the institution. Raj continues to help the three boys and their lovers meet against school rules and the story turns into a war between Raj and Narayan Shankar.

Eventually, Narayan Shankar come to realize that love and change are indeed important parts of life, and softens. He steps down and appoints Raj as the headmaster, and in this way, Gurukul is transformed forever into a singing, dancing, and loving school.
